High profile of Syngenta Biotechnology at Arabidopsis Research
On 23-27 July, 2008, representatives from Syngenta Biotechnology China (SBC) and the U.S. (SBI) attended the 19th International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR), the largest annual scientific conference devoted to cutting-edge research using the reference plant Arabidopsis thaliana. This year, over 1000 delegates from all over the world gathered in Montreal, Canada, to learn about recent advances in basic and applied Arabidopsis research.
Syngenta Biotechnology was quite visible at the event and well represented through several activities and occasions:
- Full-page color advertisement on the inside front cover of the conference abstract book that each attendee receives;
- Posters featuring refreshed brand, brochures and flyers widely distributed;
- A well-setup office to receive visitors, and to conduct face-to-face interviews with possible candidates identified on-site;
- Lively interaction and social network with distinguished scientists.
The conference, with a large base of participants primarily from academia, provided SBC in particular, with a good opportunity to introduce the newly established Biotech Center in Beijing, and to explore possibilities to attract overseas senior scientists with strong academic background. As the biotech industry continues to evolve and grow worldwide, it’s vital that Syngenta Biotechnology maintains a strong presence in academia as well as industry.
